Banyana Banyana coach Desiree Ellis has named her squad for the Olympic qualifiers against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Squad selection:
Ellis has kept the core of the Banyana Banyana team that reached the Last 16 of the recently ended FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The likes of Andile Dlamini, Kyalin Swart, Linda Motlhalo, Jermaine Seoposenwe, Linda Motlhalo and Thembi Kgatlana are all in the squad.
Absentees:
Two of Banyana Banyana’s senior players are still missing due to injuries: captain Refiloe Jane and Bambanani Mbane. The two stars injured themselves during the FIFA Women’s World Cup and are yet to fully recover.
Olympic qualifiers:
Banyana Banyana are about to embark on a journey to qualify for their third Olympic Games, having done so in 2012 and 2016.
The first leg against DRC will be played in Kinshasa on 25 October, with the second leg scheduled for 30 October.
