…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has chosen Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the new National Chairman of the party, succeeding Victor Oye.
The 38-year-old Ezeokenwa was elected by delegates from all states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during a convention held in Awka, Anambra capital.
Sylvester Ezeokenwa’s Election:
At the convention, delegates representing the 36 states and the FCT voted for Ezeokenwa to lead APGA as the new National Chairman.
Following his election, Ezeokenwa expressed gratitude to the party members for their support and confidence in him, despite his young age.
He acknowledged the significance of his position as the youngest National Chairman of any political party in Nigeria, emphasizing the responsibility of the new executives in leading the party’s progressive agenda.
New Members of the Board of Trustees (BoT):
During the convention, the nomination and ratification of new members for the Board of Trustees (BoT) took place.
Former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, was appointed as the leader of the BoT.
This appointment signifies a new phase in the party’s leadership structure.
Victor Oye’s Achievements:
Outgoing National Chairman, Victor Oye, highlighted his accomplishments during his tenure.
He stated that despite inheriting less than N40 million from his predecessor, he left N300 million in the party’s bank account.
Oye also shared that he successfully handled over 200 court cases, securing victories for APGA.
He proudly mentioned the completion of the party’s national secretariat building in Abuja and a five-story zonal office in Awka as notable achievements.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Appreciation:
Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, attending his first national convention, expressed his gratitude for the peaceful conduct of the event.
He thanked APGA for sponsoring him in a successful governorship election.
Soludo commended Victor Oye for his focused leadership during his eight-year tenure, acknowledging his effective management of the party’s resources.
