Adam Collard has acknowledged that his bad-boy persona is a mask he wears to escape from a traumatic event he had as a child.

The 27-year-old former Love Island celebrity spoke out on Celebs Go Dating on how his past issues have affected the guy he is now.

When referring to Collard’s boyish, unfaithful reputation, dating guru Paul Brunson questioned, “Why is it that people think you’re this guy?” But all we see is this intelligent, aspirational teddy bear?

Then, “Why do we have that divide?” was added.

“I think it’s because my dating life has been on TV,” Collard retorted. My actual relationship life has not been featured on television.

To be honest, I feel like my defence mechanism is this type of charismatic confidence that screams “f**k boy.”

Collard, who was born in New Castle and is presently dating co-star Lottie Moss, later acknowledged that he had been “made fun of” while he was in school.

But it’s the time when it really hits you, when you’re that age.

When I reached the sixth form or university level, my body had undergone a significant metamorphosis, which also affected my confidence levels.

“And since then, I would say that I just went crazy,” he said in his conclusion.
