Bayelsa LP Gov’ship Candidate Laments Poverty in State
The governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in Bayelsa State, Udengs Eradiri, has lamented over the level of poverty in the state. He said it is disgraceful and disastrous that the state ranks as the second poorest state after Sokoto State in Nigeria.

Eradiri wondered why there is poverty in Bayelsa despite the small population of the state and the huge revenue allocations from various sources.
He said that the state has a red flag in all developmental indices, and that 88% of its population is extremely poor.

Eradiri said that the PDP and its governorship candidate, Douye Diri, have nothing to campaign with as far as the forthcoming election is concerned.
He said that the PDP leadership has failed the state since 1999, and that the current government has diverted and squandered all the state’s commonwealth.

Eradiri accused Diri and the PDP of diverting and squandering the state’s commonwealth. He said that this is evident in the fact that Bayelsa, an oil-rich state, is the second poorest state in Nigeria.
