13-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Defiled by Security Guard in Port Harcourt; Suspect Arrested

…By Dorcas Funmi for TDPel Media. In Mile 1 Diobu, Port Harcourt, a 13-year-old girl has reportedly been sexually assaulted by a 49-year-old security guard identified as Obadiah.

The suspect, who works as a security guard at a nightclub in Port Harcourt, allegedly lured the victim by asking her to buy him snacks.

Upon her return, Obadiah instructed the girl to bring the snacks to his room.

However, once she entered the room, he locked the door, turned up the volume of his radio, and proceeded to defile her.

A concerned neighbor suspected foul play and questioned the girl upon her exit from the room.

Subsequently, the neighbor reported the incident to the Mile 1 Police Division.

The Rivers State Police Command has since arrested the suspect.

Investigation and Transfer of the Case

The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect has been transferred from the Mile 1 Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department in Port Harcourt.

The transfer was made to facilitate a discreet investigation into the matter.

Rising Cases of Defilement in Lagos State

In related news, the Nigeria Police Force has revealed that between April and June, there have been 111 recorded cases of defilement in Lagos State.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Command, expressed concern over the increasing number of defilement cases in the state.

Alongside the defilement cases, the command also reported 14 cases of rape and 56 cases of domestic violence during the same period.

The authorities are faced with the urgent task of addressing these alarming incidents of sexual assault and violence against minors, as the safety and well-being of children continue to be threatened.
