In response to rumors tying him to the part of X-Men character Wolverine, Zac Efron has asked that Marvel executives give him a call.
Hugh Jackman has been portraying Wolverine since 2000. He has done so in a number of “X-Men” movies as well as other stand-alone productions. He will be revisiting the character for a part in the forthcoming film “Deadpool 3.”
However, there have been rumors that when “Wolverine” and the “X-Men” join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a different actor may play the part.
During a visit on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Efron was questioned about rumors that he may replace Wolverine, and he responded as follows: “Really? Wow, they could simply give me a call. I have to give Hugh credit; I believe he is still doing a really good job there.”
The host persisted, pointing out that Efron is acquainted with Jackman since they had screen time in “The Greatest Showman,” and Efron said, “I think I got my foot in the door on that one, I should go speak to him.”
After the “High School Musical” actor made the joke that he would have to grow a full beard like Fallon, the host offered to cut it off for him and give it to him to save him some time.
Prior to Will Poulter landing the role of Adam Warlock, Efron was said to have been on the short list to portray the Marvel character. He was also connected to the part of The Human Torch in a “Fantastic Four” movie.
