A man has been formally charged following the death of a woman discovered at a home in Portlaoise, County Laois, over the weekend.
Emergency services and gardaí were called to a property on Church Street shortly after 12:30 p.m. on Sunday after reports of an incident.
Upon arrival, they found a woman in her 50s unresponsive inside the residence.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Arrest Made Shortly After Discovery
Following the discovery, officers arrested a man in his 70s in connection with the incident.
He remained in Garda custody while investigators began examining the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
