The news of Princess Sibuyiselwe Angela Buthelezi’s passing has left many in shock and sorrow.

As the youngest daughter of the late Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, founder of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Angela’s legacy as a dedicated public servant will be remembered by those she touched throughout her life.

Angela, who also served as a member of Parliament, passed away early on Monday, October 21, in a hospital in Cape Town.

According to a family statement, she had been admitted for health issues but her sudden death came as a surprise to her loved ones.

Angela was one of only three surviving children of Prince Buthelezi, who had a total of eight.

Prince Zuzifa Buthelezi expressed the family’s heartbreak, stating, “The loss of Princess Angela just a year after the passing of our father is a terrible shock.

While her health was not perfect for several years, we did not expect this sudden news.”

Angela leaves behind her only daughter, Princess Ntando Nkeiruka.

A Legacy of Service

In the wake of her passing, many have shared their condolences.

Zwakele Mncwango, leader of ActionSA in KwaZulu-Natal, expressed his sympathy to Angela’s family and friends.

He highlighted her commitment to serving the nation, saying, “Her selfless work and contributions to our nation will never go unnoticed, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come… May her soul rest in peace.”
