1. TREVOR NOAH IS BACK AS THE HOST

South African-born comedian Trevor Noah will be gracing the Grammys stage once again as the host. Speaking to CBS Mornings in December 2021, the 38-year-old said he was looking forward to hosting again.

“I guess we had such a good time that we were like, imagine if we had people there how much more fun would we have had and so this year the Grammys is going to be back,” said Noah.

2. WOUTER KELLERMAN NOMINATED FOR BEST NEW AGE ALBUM

Flautist Wouter Kellerman has received his third-ever Grammy nomination. Kellerman is nominated in the Best New Age category for his collaboration with David Arkenstone, Pangaea.

“This is my third nomination and it’s definitely as exciting, if not more exciting than the first one,” Kellerman told SABC News in November 2021.

3. LAZARUSMAN BAGS FIRST GRAMMY NOMINATION

Spoken word artist and DJ Lazarusman scored himself a Gramm nod for his contribution to Booka Shade’s album, Dear Future Self. He contributed a poem to the German house duo’s album which is nominated for Best Immersive Audio Album.

Speaking to Mail and Guardian he said: “I guess it’s one way to get a Grammy nomination by inspiring and being part of a body of work, but I do hope that through this journey that I am on, I may one day get my own nomination for my own work. That is the goal.”

4. BLACK COFFEE SCORES A NOD!

Black Coffee has been nominated in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category for his album, Subconsciously. The talented producer is nominated alongside the likes of Major Lazer, Marshmello, Sylvian, Ten City and Illenium.

Black Coffee told Billboard that he received the news while he was at his Johannesburg home with his mother.

“It was a surreal moment,” he recalled.

5. SKINNY SBU SOCKS LANDS IN GRAMMYS GOODIE BAG

Skinny Sbu Socks, headed by entrepreneur Sbu Ngwenya, will also be representing Mzansi at the Grammys. Each Grammy nominee will receive a goodie bag with Skinny Sbu Socks in them!

“We’re working with the biggest music event on the globe. We’re executing at a high level. This will put us in a position to speak to a massive audience worldwide,” Ngwenya told City Press.
