Tractor’s Sudden Speed Through Flooded Tenbury Wells Streets Pushes Water Into Shops and Homes, Causing Serious Property Damage

A tractor has been blamed for intensifying the already severe flooding in Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire, causing widespread damage to local businesses.

Onlookers watched in shock as the large green vehicle sped down a flooded street, sending massive waves of water crashing into storefronts and properties along the road.

The powerful surge shattered windows, forced doors open, and worsened the flooding that had already caused havoc in the area.

Police Launch Investigation into Incident

West Mercia Police are investigating the incident after videos of the tractor’s destructive path spread on social media.

The footage shows the vehicle plowing through water that was already nearly up to its wheels, with bystanders visibly alarmed by the damage being caused.

The waves forced water into homes and businesses, including those protected by sandbags.

Police are currently speaking with local business owners and reviewing additional footage to assess the full extent of the damage.

No arrests have been made as of now, and updates will follow as the investigation progresses.

Business Owners React to the Devastation

Business owners in Tenbury Wells, including Paul Birkin, the owner of the Crow pub, shared their frustrations.

Birkin explained that the floodwaters hadn’t reached his pub until the tractor drove through, pushing water into the pub, damaging its locked front doors, and displacing sandbags.

Birkin stated that his business could have avoided further damage had the tractor not passed through at such speed.

Meanwhile, Stephanie Hopkins and Nick Harrold, co-owners of the beauty business Eternally Ageless Aesthetics, expressed disbelief over the destruction.

Harrold called the waves caused by the tractor “total devastation,” adding that the damage was far beyond typical flood issues.

With £15,000 of their own money invested into the business, they are now left facing the possibility of having to close, as they don’t have the financial means to repair the damage.

Widespread Impact of Storm Bert

This incident comes amidst the chaos caused by Storm Bert, which wreaked havoc across the UK over the weekend.

With winds reaching up to 82 mph and heavy rain that brought flooding, the storm caused major disruptions.

More than 400 flood alerts and warnings have been issued across Britain, with the storm leaving behind a trail of destruction that included transport disruptions, power outages, and tragic loss of life.

In addition to the damage caused by flooding, the storm claimed the lives of at least five people.

Among the victims were a man in his 80s who died in Lancashire after his car was swept into floodwaters, and a pensioner who went missing after walking his dog near the swollen River Conwy in North Wales.

Ongoing Recovery Efforts

With major clean-up operations underway, communities are still grappling with the aftermath of Storm Bert.

Authorities continue to warn of high-risk flooding and travel disruptions as efforts to restore normalcy progress.

For the residents and business owners in affected areas, the recovery will take time, and many, like those in Tenbury Wells, are left struggling to rebuild.
