Award-winning musician John Legend recently visited South Africa, where he shared the stage alongside singer Mthandazo Gatya.
After the video of the musician’s participation in his open verse challenge for his new blockbuster single “Nervous” on TikTok went viral, Legend became interested in the performer.
His African-inspired #OpenVerseChallenge gained a lot of attention after receiving thousands of likes and plays from fans who like the video.
Even the American singer saw it and commented on it in the comments area.
Gatya will always remember last month’s opportunity for the two musicians to interact and play together on stage.
On 947’s Anele and the Club, Gatya said that his manager had gotten a call asking to transport the musician to Sun City for a private event.
Gatya was taken aback by the encounter since he had no idea he would be sharing the stage with the international sensation.
Although Gatya’s experience in the whirlwind has subsided, Legend hasn’t forgotten about it.
Legend posted a “How it began and how’s it going” video on his Instagram account, detailing the process of Gatya’s craziest desire becoming a reality.
“The internet’s power!” he captioned the Reel, “And taking part in my open verse challenge for #Nervous.
Gatya has been very busy since his video went viral, doing interviews for radio, television, print, and internet media.
He had indicated that he was attempting to make sure that people could associate his music with his face in an earlier interview with IOL Entertainment.
Despite the enormous popularity of his song “Senzeni,” few people knew who the singer was. They won’t quickly forget it however, thanks to the present.
