On December 8, Trevor Noah will depart from “The Daily Show.”
The comedian, who has hosted the late-night program since September 2015, will deliver his farewell episode later this year after announcing his departure a few weeks ago.
His last night was disclosed by Comedy Central, which also revealed plans for a December 5 premiere of a “celebratory look back at his finest moments.”
the network said “Noah has flawlessly transitioned “The Daily Show” from perceptive, humorous satire to serious, thought-provoking talks, responding to society’s periods of unrest and uncertainty with conviction.
He has amused and informed audiences with his distinctive voice and viewpoint on a variety of topics, including presidential elections, police brutality, systematic racism, and dealing with global pandemics.
After then, the program will be off until January 17, however the producers have not yet named Noah’s successor.
The 38-year-old host said last month that he believed it was time to leave the talk program.
He stated in a clip shared on the program’s Twitter account: “It has been crazy. I recall how few people believed in us when we initially got going. Making such a wager was insane. It was still a stupid decision in my opinion. It has been quite the adventure.
“It’s something I never anticipated, and I kept thinking about everything we’ve been through – the Trump administration, the pandemic, the voyage alone, the more epidemic — as time went on.
“And I came to the conclusion that my time is over after these seven years. But honestly, in the most lovely manner.”
Added Noah “I’ve enjoyed being the show’s host. One of my biggest problems has been it. One of my biggest delights has been that.
“Even when the tales are really horrible on the darkest days, I’ve appreciated figuring out how to make people laugh. Together, we have both wept and laughed. But I believe the moment has come after seven years.”
