Tragedy Strikes on N4 Near Middelburg
A devastating accident on the N4 highway near Middelburg, Mpumalanga, resulted in the loss of seven lives.
The incident involved a taxi and an articulated truck and occurred on Friday, October 13, at approximately 23:00.
Fatal Collision Details
Reports indicate that six individuals suffered serious injuries, while three others sustained minor injuries in the collision.
The seven victims included the taxi driver and six passengers. The accident unfolded as the taxi driver purportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn and collide with the truck.
Notably, the taxi was towing a trailer and was en route from Johannesburg to Mozambique.
Another Tragic Incident on N4 Schoemanskloof
In a separate but equally tragic incident, two individuals lost their lives, and two others suffered moderate injuries in a single-vehicle crash on the N4 Schoemanskloof in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.
This accident occurred on Sunday morning, August 20.
Emergency Response
Emergency services, specifically Emer-G-Med, swiftly responded to the scene of the accident, arriving at approximately 08:15 on that fateful Sunday.
Upon arrival, they discovered a light motor vehicle that had overturned multiple times, ultimately coming to a rest on its roof.
Fatalities and Injuries
Tragically, two occupants were ejected from the wreck and sustained fatal injuries, with paramedics declaring them deceased upon arrival.
Meanwhile, two other adult occupants suffered moderate injuries and received immediate medical attention at the scene before being transported to a nearby hospital for further care.
