A one-armed suspect who is still on the run forced a guy into the tracks at Grand Central station in Manhattan on Thursday, leaving him bleeding.
The incident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. on the station’s 7 train platform, according to police, after the suspect got into a physical altercation with the 51-year-old victim, who has not been identified.
The confrontation quickly became physical, and the suspect threw the man into the railroad tracks before fleeing. DailyMail.com photographer Peter Gerber, who was on the scene, described the assailant as a black male wearing a yellow shirt, beige and black pants, and having only one arm.
Thankfully, the guy was able to raise himself up off the rails before a train came crashing down on him.
Although he was not gravely hurt, he did sustain lacerations to his forehead and cheek as a result of the accident. He was treated for his injuries on the platform, according to cops.
Following the attack, shocking photographs show the injured victim in a trance as police questioned him.
The brazen attack at one of the city’s most trafficked stations took place right at the cusp of rush hour – but it did little to hinder straphangers’ commutes.
Police have yet to reveal what spurred the latest brazen attack on the city’s embattle subway system – but they have disclosed that the victim did not know the suspect.
They added that the suspect fled while his victim was still on the track.
Cops have yet to release any surveillance footage of the attack. An investigation is currently ongoing.
The incident could have been the latest in a string of subway-related deaths in The City That Never Sleeps, which has seen its crime rates burgeon since the start of the pandemic – many taking place in the city’s transit system.
Just a day after being freed from jail for carrying an illegal knife, a guy was nabbed in Queens after going on a subway slashing spree that saw two people slashed, one in the face.
On Friday and Saturday, the suspect, Donny Ubiera, 32, attacked victims at random while traveling the 7-line subway train from Flushing to Times Square.
One of the unidentified victims was stabbed in the face, while the other was injured in the neck.
Ubiera had only been freed from jail the day before after being jailed for reportedly refusing to put a knife away in front of police officers who had ordered him to do so. He began by pointing the firearm at them and attempting to intimidate them.
The concerning statistics come on the heels of Mayor Eric Adams’ vow to clean up the crime-ridden subway system, amid a rash of reports of slashings, assaults, and even murder, on platforms and stations across the city.
