President Tinubu’s Request for Palliative Fund Approved
The House of Representatives swiftly made adjustments to the 2022 supplementary appropriation act in response to President Bola Tinubu’s request.
They have approved the allocation of 500 billion naira from the approved budget to provide relief to Nigerians following the removal of petrol subsidies.
This adjustment to the budget was rapidly passed, with the bill going through the 2nd and 3rd readings in a short period.
Urgency for Alleviating Subsidy Removal Impacts
Lawmakers explained that the urgency in approving the palliative fund was driven by the immediate need to alleviate the impacts of the subsidy removal.
The House of Representatives expressed the importance of effectively utilizing the allocated funds and urged President Tinubu to exercise conscientiousness in their usage.
