Lagos State Governor Acknowledges Supreme Court Validation

In response to the recent Supreme Court ruling upholding his victory, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, expressed gratitude for the affirmation of his election as the duly elected leader of the state.

Supreme Court Verdict Upholds Election Result

The apex court, led by Justice Garba Lawal, dismissed the appeal filed by Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, affirming that Sanwo-Olu’s election was legitimate.

The judgment also asserted the eligibility of the deputy governor, Obafemi Hamzat, to contest the governorship election held on March 18, 2023.

Invitation to Opposition for Collaborative Governance

In an official statement through his handle, Governor Sanwo-Olu extended an invitation to members of opposition parties, urging them to collaborate with his government.

He emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decision re-validates the trust and confidence placed in his administration by the people of Lagos.

The governor conveyed his gratitude, stating, “I’m grateful for the Supreme Court’s affirmation of my election as Governor of Lagos State.

Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his commitment to an inclusive government, stating that there are no victors or vanquished.

He invited those still on the fence to join the progressive governance, emphasizing that the administration welcomes diverse ideas.
