Russian Tourist Kamilla Belyatskaya Tragically Drowns After a Wave Sweeps Her Into the Sea While She Films a Yoga Session on Koh Samui’s Lad Ko Viewpoint

A young tourist’s life was tragically cut short in Koh Samui, Thailand, after being swept away by a massive wave while practicing yoga on a popular viewpoint.

Kamilla Belyatskaya, a 24-year-old from Russia, was filming herself on her pink yoga mat just moments before the devastating wave hit, dragging her into the sea.

The Heartbreaking Moment

The powerful wave overwhelmed Kamilla as she stood on the rocks overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.

In harrowing footage, she can be seen being pulled into the turbulent waters, with the strong current violently tossing her about.

A bystander reportedly rushed into the waves to attempt a rescue, but tragically, his efforts were in vain.

It is unclear what happened to the man afterward.

Moments later, Kamilla’s yoga mat was seen floating in the waves off Koh Samui, a popular island destination known for its scenic beauty.

Kamilla’s Love for Koh Samui

Kamilla, who hailed from Novosibirsk in Russia, had been visiting Thailand’s second-largest island with her boyfriend.

She had a deep connection to Koh Samui, often sharing her love for the island with her social media followers.

She called it “home” and described it as “the best place on earth.”

On the day of the incident, she had visited the Lad Ko Viewpoint to watch the waves and practice yoga, an activity she had done before at this favorite spot.

A Desperate Search

Rescue teams arrived just 15 minutes after Kamilla was swept away, but the rough sea made it impossible to recover her in time.

Despite their efforts, the raging currents prevented them from reaching her.

Her last social media post captured her joy: “I love Samui so much. But this place, this rocky beach is the best thing I’ve ever seen in my life. Thank you, universe, for me being here right now. I’m very happy. I’m happy!”

A Stark Reminder of Nature’s Power

The tragic incident highlights the dangers of monsoon conditions, especially along Thailand’s rocky coastlines.

Local authorities are urging tourists to exercise extreme caution, particularly during high-wave periods.

The Thai report reminded visitors to avoid risky areas during monsoon season, especially those marked by red flags indicating no swimming.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities have launched a marine search and rescue operation to locate the missing man who attempted to rescue Kamilla.

Chaiyaporn Subprasert, head of the Samui Rescue Centre, confirmed that warning systems were in place across the island, especially in high-risk areas like Chaweng and Lamai beaches.

While the viewpoint where Kamilla was swept away was not a designated swimming area, the unexpected wave surge caught her off guard, leading to this heartbreaking loss.
