Prince Harry will stay at Buckingham Palace for part of his visit to London this week after formally accepting an invitation extended to him, according to a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex.
The visit marks another return to the United Kingdom as Harry prepares for next year’s Invictus Games in Birmingham while also attending a series of charity engagements.
Trip Focused on Invictus Games Preparations
The Duke’s schedule is expected to center on planning activities for the 2027 Invictus Games, which Birmingham will host, alongside several charitable commitments.
His appearance underscores his continued dedication to the international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick military personnel, a project he founded and has championed for more than a decade.
Meghan and Children Not Expected in London
Prince Harry is expected to travel without his wife, Meghan, and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Their absence comes after it was confirmed that the family would not receive taxpayer-funded police protection while visiting the UK, an issue that has remained a major factor in the Sussexes’ travel plans.
However, there remains the possibility that Meghan and the children could join Harry later in Birmingham as part of activities promoting the upcoming Invictus Games.
Uncertainty Over Possible Family Reunion
Harry’s revised travel plans have also raised questions about whether King Charles III will have an opportunity to meet his grandchildren during the visit.
The King has not seen Archie and Lilibet in person for four years, but it remains unclear whether any family gathering will be arranged while the Duke is in Britain.
No official details have been released regarding a potential meeting.
Security Dispute Continues to Shape UK Visits
The Duke of Sussex’s disagreement with the British government over security arrangements has continued since he and Meghan stepped back from royal duties in 2020 before relocating to the United States.
Following that decision, authorities ruled that Harry’s security would be determined individually for each visit rather than automatically providing the same level of protection previously available to him as a working royal.
Harry has challenged that decision over several years, arguing that the existing arrangements are insufficient for his family’s safety.
Harry Previously Raised Concerns About Returning With Family
The security issue has repeatedly influenced whether the Duke is willing to bring Meghan and their children to Britain.
In a previous interview, Harry explained that he could not imagine returning to the UK with his family unless more comprehensive security measures were put in place.
As a result, his visits have largely been solo trips since the couple’s final joint appearance in Britain during Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022.

Although Meghan has remained in the United States with Archie and Lilibet during Harry’s recent visits, the Duke has continued travelling to Britain for personal and charitable commitments.
He also met King Charles during a previous visit last year, reflecting ongoing, though limited, contact with members of the Royal Family despite well-documented tensions in recent years.
His latest stay at Buckingham Palace adds another chapter to the evolving relationship between Prince Harry and the monarchy as he balances royal connections with his independent public role.
