Rapper Shebeshxt is now home and recovering after being discharged from the hospital on Tuesday, July 2nd.
This follows a car accident that occurred on June 8th on the R37 road near Smelters Mine in Limpopo.
Tragically, the accident claimed the life of his eight-year-old daughter, Onthatile Chuene.
Shebeshxt’s lawyer, Lot Ramusi, shared with Sunday World that the rapper has a long way to go in his recovery, but there is hope.
“He is out of the hospital.
He was discharged yesterday.
He is recovering at home, and he is getting better,” Ramusi said.
He also mentioned that Shebeshxt is gradually coming to terms with the loss of his daughter.
“He is coming to terms with everything.
He was obviously shaken by everything, but he is slowly coming to terms with the situation.”
The Accident Details
The accident involved Shebeshxt, his daughter Onthatile, and her mother, Kholofelo Chuene.
Their Volkswagen Polo collided with a truck and overturned.
Shebeshxt sustained a broken leg, abdominal fracture, and head injuries and was transferred to Netcare Pholoso Hospital after initially being unattended at a public hospital.
Kholofelo was also hospitalized with moderate injuries.
Remembering Onthatile
Onthatile was laid to rest two weeks after the accident.
At her funeral, Shebeshxt expressed his deep sorrow in a heartfelt letter, saying, “You left a huge void in our hearts.
I don’t think we will ever recover from this.
We might seem strong, but deep down we wish we could wake up from this terrible nightmare and see your beautiful face and hear your wonderful voice saying, ‘Ke rata batswadi baka ka pelo ka moka’ (I love my parents wholeheartedly).”
Investigation Underway
The South African Police Services have initiated a culpable homicide investigation following the crash.
According to Limpopo police provincial spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba, statements have been requested from Shebeshxt’s family and partner.
Ledwaba emphasized that this investigation is standard procedure to determine the cause of the accident while ensuring that all legal protocols and the rights of all parties involved are respected.
