Injury Update on Bulls’ Springbok Players

The Bulls recently shared some concerning updates about three of their key Springbok players: Ruan Nortje, Elrigh Louw, and Johan Goosen. Here’s a breakdown of their current injury statuses.

Setback for Elrigh Louw

In a significant blow to both the Bulls and potentially the Springboks, Elrigh Louw, the talented loose forward, has experienced a setback in his recovery from a knee injury.

Louw, who had been recovering from a serious knee injury sustained during the Bulls’ derby against the Lions on January 25, was initially scheduled to undergo corrective surgery.

However, the surgery has been delayed due to swelling around the injured area.

After consultations with specialists, it’s been confirmed that the 25-year-old Springbok will now have his operation within the next two weeks.

Once the surgery is completed, a clearer timeline for his rehabilitation will follow.

Ruan Nortje’s Recovery Progress

Ruan Nortje, who co-captains the Bulls alongside Louw, was also injured during that same match.

Nortje, the Springbok lock, injured his knee ligaments and was initially thought to be in need of surgery. Fortunately, he won’t require an operation.

Nortje has already started a non-invasive recovery and rehab program, and the Bulls are hopeful that he’ll make his return to the field in about eight to ten weeks.

Johan Goosen’s Road to Recovery

Johan Goosen, the former Springbok flyhalf, is two weeks post-surgery after undergoing a successful knee operation.
