A Sweet Valentine’s Gesture from President Ramaphosa
President Cyril Ramaphosa has certainly mastered the art of winning over the crowd, and his recent Valentine’s Day gesture proves that he knows how to bring a smile to people’s faces.
A viral video shared by Athi Geleba, the Head of Digital Communications, shows the President handing out roses to several women.
It’s a charming display of affection that’s sure to warm hearts.
Ramaphosa Takes a Playful Dig at Mzansi Men
In the video, one of the women in the room receives a rose from Ramaphosa, and with a smile, she turns to the others, saying, “Don’t be jealous.
” As he continues handing out roses, he jokingly remarks to one lady, “I doubt whether you will ever get a flower! You know, these guys I don’t think they ever give you Valentine’s flowers.”
The women in the crowd laugh and nod in agreement, admitting that Valentine’s Day flowers weren’t exactly on their radar—except for the special ones handed out by the President himself.
But it wasn’t just the women who had fun.
When a man popped his head into the room to ask if Ramaphosa could be his Valentine, the President playfully shot him down, laughing, “For you? No ways!”
A Moment of Lightness Amid a Busy Schedule
Despite a packed schedule that includes his recent State of the Nation Address and the ongoing debates that followed, it’s refreshing to see the President take a moment for some light-hearted fun. This heartwarming scene was captured on a plane, likely during Ramaphosa’s trip to Tanzania for a summit on the ongoing conflict in the eastern DRC.
The summit was an important event, with Ramaphosa noting that it represents a “beacon of hope” for the troubled region.
As a member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the African Union, he emphasized the need for collective action to bring peace and stability to the Democratic Republic of Congo, a country that has been ravaged by war for over three decades.
Spreading Love and Hope
In the face of such serious and challenging matters, it’s nice to see Ramaphosa spreading a little bit of love and joy this Valentine’s Day.
While he continues to work towards peace on the continent, moments like these remind us that even in the toughest of times, there’s always room for kindness and lightness.
So, what about you—did you receive flowers this Valentine’s Day? Or do you think Ramaphosa might be right in his playful jabs?
