Pregnant Woman Injured After Rottweiler Falls from Balcony in Central Rome
A 27-year-old pregnant woman is currently hospitalized in serious condition after a harrowing incident on Via Frattina, a fashionable street in central Rome.
The unfortunate event occurred when a rottweiler, named Cody and owned by Emilia Mikela Pawlak, tumbled from a third-floor balcony and struck the woman.
Distraught Owner Shares Her Grief
Emilia Mikela Pawlak, Cody’s owner, expressed her distress over the accident in an interview with Italian newspaper La Repubblica.
She recounted, “I don’t know how it happened; I was in the bathroom, Cody was always next to me.”
The sudden and tragic incident left both the woman and the dog in a critical condition.
Witnesses Report Startling Sounds
Several witnesses at the scene reported hearing what they initially thought was a gunshot as the rottweiler struck the ground.
Sadly, the impact proved fatal for Cody, leading to a heartbreaking situation for his owner, who is said to be deeply distraught, according to the Italian news agency Ansa.
A Tragic History with Rottweilers in Italy
This isn’t the first unfortunate incident involving rottweilers in Italy.
In April, another heartbreaking incident occurred when an Italian woman was attacked and “torn apart” by her brother’s rottweiler while attempting to feed it.
The victim, Patrizia La Marca, had gone to her brother’s home in Ventimiglia to care for the dog when the attack took place.
The aggressive nature of the dog complicated the rescue operation, and it took first responders two hours to provide assistance, involving the eventual shooting and injury of the dog.
