Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski Tells Trump He Must Follow Fair Peace Guidelines to Earn Nobel Peace Prize at Munich Security Summit

On Monday, Donald Trump’s supporters took issue with a comment made by Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski during the Munich Security Summit.

Sikorski, who was discussing Trump’s efforts to broker peace between Russia and Ukraine, warned the former president not to be overly lenient with Russia during negotiations.

He boldly stated, “We Europeans control the Nobel Peace Prize,” with a chuckle, adding, “If you want to earn it, the peace has to be fair.”

The remark was met with enthusiastic applause from diplomats and political figures in attendance, but it quickly drew the ire of Trump’s supporters once the video went viral.

Many Trump backers took to social media to express their frustration with Sikorski’s statement, particularly questioning the value of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump’s Supporters Push Back on the Nobel Prize’s Credibility

Trump supporters didn’t hold back, mocking the Nobel Peace Prize as biased and meaningless.

They pointed to the fact that former President Barack Obama was awarded the prize in 2009, despite having made little progress on global peace efforts at that time.

Fox News weekend co-host Rachel Campos-Duffy voiced her skepticism, writing on X, “When they gave the Nobel Peace Prize to Obama I knew the whole thing was a scam.”

Former CBS reporter Lara Logan added, “Excuse my French but who gives a s**t about the Nobel Peace Prize anymore?”

Their comments echoed a sentiment shared by many, with even Geir Lundestad, the former Secretary of the Nobel Committee, acknowledging in his 2015 book that awarding Obama the prize had been a mistake.

He wrote that even Obama’s supporters had questioned the decision.

The Nobel Peace Prize: A Source of Controversy for Trump Supporters

In response to Sikorski’s remarks, some Trump supporters suggested that European leaders were intentionally sabotaging efforts to end the war in Ukraine.

Activist Robby Starbuck criticized the idea of “Euro globalists” as being more interested in prolonging conflict than achieving peace.

He claimed that they were playing a “War is Peace” game by threatening to award the Nobel Peace Prize to Trump only if he continues the war in Ukraine, but not if he succeeds in negotiating a peace deal.

Others drew attention to the controversial past of the Nobel Peace Prize, recalling how it was awarded to Yasser Arafat, leader of the Palestine Liberation Organization, despite his failure to fulfill peace commitments.

Lawyer Viva Frei shared an image of Arafat on X with a laughing emoji, sarcastically highlighting the prize’s questionable history.

Trump’s Peace Talks with Russia

Despite the European backlash, Trump is set to begin peace talks with Russian officials in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, with the possibility of a future meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The talks aim to open the door for a potential peace agreement, though some European leaders have expressed concerns about being sidelined in the process.

Trump himself has suggested that he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts but admitted that he likely wouldn’t receive it.

“They will never give me a Nobel Peace Prize. I deserve it, but they will never give it to me,” he remarked during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
