PGA Championship latest: Paul Casey pulls out with back injury

England’s Paul Casey has withdrawn from this week’s PGA Championship due to an ongoing back injury.

The 44-year-old has not competed since the injury forced him out of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in March after completing just two holes of his opening match.

Paul Casey has had top-4 finishes in last 2 PGA Championships

Casey finished runner-up to Collin Morikawa in the 2020 PGA Championship at Harding Park and was also joint fourth behind Phil Mickelson at Kiawah Island last year.

His place in the field at Southern Hills will be taken by Scotland’s Russell Knox.

The year’s second major gets under way in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Thursday, 19 May.
