Residents of Garam, a border community between Niger State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, found themselves in the grip of fear as a horde of armed bandits invaded the village in broad daylight.

According to reports obtained by Naija News, the assailants rode into the village on motorcycles, brandishing weapons and inquiring about the direction to Jere, a community in Kaduna State.

Armed and Dangerous: Bandits’ Daylight Assault on Garam

Eyewitness accounts revealed that the bandits, armed with AK-47 rifles, swords, and arrows, made a menacing entrance into Garam.

Dressed in military camouflage or combat trousers, they instilled fear among the residents who were left distressed by the unexpected intrusion.

Eyewitness Testimony: Over 100 Bandits Create Panic in Garam

In a harrowing account, an eyewitness described the audacious invasion, stating, “In broad daylight on Monday afternoon, over 100 bandits arrived in Garam on motorcycles.

There were more than 40 bikes, with three bandits on each one. They openly brandished AK 47 rifles and carried arrows and swords. Fearing the unknown, most people fled for their lives.”

Chaos Unleashed: Residents Flee as Bandits Strike Again

Another witness confirmed the chaotic scene, recounting how residents scattered in panic upon the arrival of the bandits on their motorcycles.

The witness reported seeing people running and observed that some of the bandits concealed their faces with scarves or masks while others wore combat trousers.

Night of Terror: Bandits Raid Houses in Kidnapping Spree

Allegedly invading the community the following day, the bandits intensified their reign of terror by raiding houses and kidnapping people.

A witness shared the disturbing details: “The bandits started attacking around 10:30 p.m. They started burgling shops, especially the shops where some boys were sleeping.

They later entered a house close to ours, forced the gate open, broke the windows, and removed the burglary.”

Desperate Night Scenes: Residents Share Ordeal of Attacks and Kidnappings

Residents, living in constant fear, detailed their night of desperation as the bandits targeted homes.

One resident, whose house was attacked, expressed gratitude for divine intervention, stating, “They attempted to break into our compound around 12:30 am.

We didn’t even know what to do. While they continued hitting the padlock we used to lock the gate, we were motionless and played dead.”

Rescue Amidst Chaos: Kidnapped Woman and Children Saved by Herders and Soldiers

The narrative also included a harrowing incident where bandits kidnapped a Nupe woman and her two children. However, due to the woman’s chronic illness and the intervention of herders, they were eventually abandoned and rescued.

The witness recounted, “One Nupe woman, whose husband is a driver, was kidnapped alongside her two children. But because the woman had a chronic ulcer and she had been sick for some time now, she was later abandoned.”

In the midst of the chaos, herders discovered the captive trio in the bush, set them free, and alerted soldiers who brought them back.

The desperate situation in Garam highlights the urgent need for enhanced security measures and government intervention to safeguard the lives and well-being of the residents.
