Oyo Traffic Agency Receives Traffic Control Stands from Organisation

The Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA) has received traffic warden stands from a leading power generating company in Nigeria, Mikano International Limited, to shelter officers while on duty.

The Chairman of the agency, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi, who received the stands at the agency’s headquarters, in Ibadan, also called on other individuals and corporate organisations to emulate the gesture.

Traffic management
Fagbemi reiterated that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde is doing everything possible to build a new Oyo State, by fixing infrastructure and paying attention to traffic management, an effort which he said has become evident to all investors and has spurred the support given by Mikano International Limited.

He said: “Let’s appreciate God for this opportunity and let’s thank Mikano International for also coming to our aide to assist the agency. This is not the first time they have been doing it and for us we are glad. It is a welcome development and it will also help, not only OYRTMA as a traffic control agency, but also other paramilitaries that are doing the same.”

He further solicited more support, such as more donations of traffic control stands, from other corporate organisations, noting that such would be distributed to all zones of the state and would also help humanity.

Proper use of the items
The Police Stand Coordinator, Mikano International Limited, Mr Yemi Salako, who represented the chairman of the company, commended the agency’s efforts in the state, saying the organisation is aware that the state is making proper use of the items earlier donated, which is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Salako stated: “We are doing this because it’s part of our CSR. We have been doing this throughout the 36 states of the federation. It’s an initiative we have been doing for the past 27 years. The company is very passionate about traffic officers, hence the need to ensure reduction in traffic congestion in all the state capitals of Nigeria.”

The latest donation, which is the second made to OYRTMA, include three large and seventeen single traffic warden stands, which brings the total to about 45 units of stands presented by the company to the agency so far.
