Until the last Saturday of October 2021, the Delta State monthly sanitation which holds on the last Saturday of the month has been like other days in Udu Council Area.

Most residence of the area took the three hours for the sanitation to visit friends and relations as well as make brisk business at the expense of cleaning their surroundings as expected.

All that changed this last Saturday when Environmental Mobile Court presided over by Chief Magistrate T. J. Nzekwu arraigned sixty sanitation defualters.

Forty-eight of them were sentenced and awarded fines for loitering, driving and trading during the sanitation hours.
Chairman of Udu Local Government, Chief Jite Brown frowned at the lackadaisical attitude of most residents of the Area towards the monthly Environmental.

The Udu Council Chairman who was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Mr Samuel Dawho said that ensuring the area is kept clean should be the responsibility of all residents.

The Head of Environment in Udu Local Government, Mrs Elizabeth Okechi said that the Council has upped its game against Environment offenders.

During the sanitation, some blocked drains were cleared.
