President Appoints New Director-General for NADDC: A Vision for Greener Transport

President’s Appointment of New NADDC Director-General

On October 13, President Bola Tinubu made a significant decision by appointing Mr. Joseph Oluwemimo Osanipin as the new Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC).

The NADDC, formed from the merger of the National Automotive Council and the Centre for Automotive Design and Development in 2014, is dedicated to shaping policies and strategies for private sector-led industrialization.

Pursuing a Greener Transport Future with CNG and EVs

Amid discussions about the future of transportation in Nigeria, there’s a growing focus on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles and Electric Vehicles (EVs).

President Tinubu is taking the lead in this shift, with a remarkable 100 billion Naira investment to acquire CNG passenger buses for transporters.

This sizeable investment, structured as a long-term, low-interest loan, has received praise, particularly from operators.

However, some experts voice concerns about a haphazard adoption of CNG and EVs and emphasize the need for clear policies and guidelines to ensure a safe and seamless transition.

NADDC holds a pivotal role in addressing these concerns.

Joseph Oluwemimo Osanipin: Leading NADDC with Local Expertise

Joseph Oluwemimo Osanipin, hailing from Oke-Ako Ekiti, Ikole L.G.A, Ekiti State, embodies the spirit of Nigeria and its talent.

With extensive education and career experience within Nigeria, Osanipin is well-positioned as a local expert for his new role. Notably, his prior role as the COO of Jet Systems Automobile Industry Ltd., a local producer of EVs for Nigeria and Africa, showcases his capabilities.

Jet Systems has been a pioneer in electric mobility solutions for a range of vehicles, from passenger cars to specialized units like ambulances and military vehicles.

Osanipin’s Preparedness for Leadership

As the new head of NADDC, Osanipin will draw upon his extensive experience, academic achievements, and professional network.

Having served in roles at institutions like Obafemi Awolowo University and Zenith Bank Plc, he is well-equipped to lead the charge.

The nation eagerly anticipates NADDC’s role under Osanipin’s leadership, with high hopes that it will set new standards in innovation, development, and commitment to sustainable mobility.
