Orlando Pirates latest: Ngoma feels he was treated unfairly at Bucs!

Former Orlando Pirates winger Aubrey Ngoma has taken time to reflect on his stint with the Soweto giants between 2012 and 2015.

Ngoma, now 32, was only 23 when Pirates signed him from AmaTuks whom he had spent four good years with.

His first few months at Pirates were difficult as he didn’t play that much, and Ngoma understands that he was competing with experienced campaigners at the time.

However, he used that as a learning curve, especially from the likes of Benni McCarthy who was his teammates at Pirates.

“I was young when I went to Orlando Pirates. I was competing with well-established players,” Ngoma told Robert Marawa on Marawa World Wide on Wednesday.

“It was difficult but I learned a lot from the players around me and got some sessions with Benni McCarthy,” he said.

NGOMA FEELS HE WAS TREATED UNFAIRLY AT ORLANDO PIRATES

When Roger de Sa joined Pirates, also in 2012, he seemed to be the coach who believed in Ngoma more as he afforded him some game time.

And Ngoma appreciates the opportunity he was given by De Sa who left Pirates in 2014 following a series of poor results on the back of the team reaching the CAF Champions League final.

According to Ngoma, things changed for the worst when De Sa was sacked in 2014 as he was sidelined by the new coach (Eric Tinker) whom he said came in with new philophies.

What makes Ngoma feels he was unfairly treated at Pirates is that no one at the club explained anything to him as to why he wasn’t playing.

Ironically, both Ngoma and Tinker would leave Pirates for Cape Town City where the left-footer blossomed under the same coach who sidelined him at the Soweto giants.

“At Pirates, Roger De Sa believed in me. He gave me minutes on the field. The new coach came in with new philosophies and things changed. I got sidelined and never understood why.”

“What happened to me at Orlando Pirates as unfair as nothing was explained to me. I would have tried to improve to get back on the team but I stayed professional,” Ngoma added.
