The race for Golden Arrows’ promising striker Lungelo Nguse is heating up, with both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs keeping a close eye on the 25-year-old.
Nguse made a strong impression in the 2023/24 season, scoring five goals for the KZN-based team.
His impressive form has sparked interest from top clubs, and now it’s a matter of which team will secure his services.
Growing Interest From Gauteng Teams
It seems that both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs are among the front-runners to sign Nguse.
According to sources close to the player, the Pirates have recently expressed interest, which could put the Chiefs in a tough spot.
A source spoke to Mgosi Squad, hinting at Gauteng-based clubs that are actively pursuing the striker.
While the source remained tight-lipped about specific names, they noted the serious interest in Nguse.
“SuperSport United also showed interest, but they have since moved on by signing Samir Nurković and Tashreeq Morris as free agents,” the source explained.
“If Arrows get a good offer, don’t be surprised if Nguse makes a big move.”
Why Chiefs Need Nguse More Than Pirates
Nguse’s agent, Mike Makaab, recently praised the striker’s talents, emphasizing his value to any team.
Makaab believes Nguse’s size and strength make him a rare asset, especially in a time when such powerful strikers are becoming less common.
“He’s a big, strong striker, and that’s a rare commodity in today’s football scene,” Makaab shared.
“Big strikers are disappearing fast, so having one like Nguse gives any team another valuable option in attack.”
What Lies Ahead for Nguse?
With interest building from both Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs, Nguse’s future is uncertain.
Will the talented forward make the move to one of these Gauteng giants in the upcoming transfer window? Only time will tell.
