…By Larry John for TDPel Media. In an official communication, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has written to the State House of Assembly, formally requesting a 21-day leave for medical treatment overseas.
According to the letter, during the governor’s absence, his Deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, will assume the position of Acting Governor.
The leave period began on June 7 and is expected to conclude on July 6, 2023, with consideration given to public holidays such as June 12 (Democracy Day) and Eid el Kabir (June 28th and 29th, 2023).
Governor Akeredolu expressed his intention to resume his duties on July 6, 2023.
The Speaker of the State Assembly, Oladimeji Oladiji, confirmed the approval of Governor Akeredolu’s letter.
Earlier, the Speaker had praised the governor as a proponent of peace and the rule of law.
He also extended his well wishes for a speedy recovery.
Deputy Governor Denies Power Dispute, Emphasizes Loyalty
In response to reports suggesting a power struggle between Deputy Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the Deputy Governor vehemently denied such claims.
There were speculations that Ayedatiwa was seeking a transfer of power in light of Akeredolu’s reported illness.
Ayedatiwa, through a spokesperson in a conversation with Vanguard, reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to Governor Akeredolu.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunities he has been given and assured that his loyalty to the governor will remain steadfast.
