Nigerian Army and DSS Prevent Imminent Boko Haram Attack on Kano State

Joint Troops Raid Terrorist Hideout, Arrest Suspects and Recover Weapons

A joint team of the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Services (DSS) has successfully prevented an imminent Boko Haram attack on Kano State.

The raid was carried out in the early hours of Friday, November 3, 2023, in Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.

During the operation, the troops arrested two Boko Haram suspects and recovered a large cache of weapons, including five AK 47 Rifles, five AK 47 Rifle Magazines, one Rocket Propelled Gun (RPG), five RPG Bombs, six Hand Grenades, five pairs of Desert Camouflage Uniforms, 10 pairs of magazine pouches and some Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making materials.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, confirmed the development in a statement on Friday.

He said the troops swung in and arrested the terrorists before they could attack Kano.

Nwachukwu commended the interagency cooperation between the Nigerian Army and other security agencies, saying it is a testament of the strength of their collective resolve to defeat insurgency and other security challenges.

He also assured the public that the Nigerian Army remains resolute in its effort to counter and degrade insurgency and other forms of security challenges across the country.

He urged members of the public to be vigilant and collaborate with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid in the ongoing operations to curb insecurity.
