Nigel hijacked bakkie recovered, 2 arrested, Delmas

According to the report, on the day in question at around 14:51 the members were alerted by vehicle tracking company (Retrack) about a white double cab Isuzu bakkie with KZN registration number plates, which had been hijacked at Nigel in Gauteng Province and was heading towards Delmas.

The members then responded swiftly and spotted the said vehicle at Tutuni Shell Garage on the R50 Road.

The members then cornered and arrested the suspects as well as confiscated the vehicle. The suspects were charged for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle and part of the probe will be to ascertain if the two men were not involved in other criminal activities elsewhere.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela has applauded the members for their vigilance and alertness as well as ensuring that the suspects were speedily arrested. “We cherish the partnership that we have with tracker companies as well as other partners in the fight against crime. The collaborative approach is always yielding positive results for us” commented the General.
