New Kaizer Chiefs man Caleb Bimenyimana celebrates with skull and crossbones

Saturday evening at the FNB Stadium in Durban, Burundian international Caleb Bimenyimana scored his first two goals for Kaizer Chiefs as they overcame Supersport United.

Bimenyimana, the most recent of the Chiefs’ numerous offseason acquisitions, made an impressive debut for the club, scoring two goals on opposite sides of halftime.

However, his celebration for one of his goals sparked widespread jovial controversy as he looked to raise the skull and crossbones symbol typically associated with Chiefs’ longtime rivals Orlando Pirates.

The 24-year-old sent social media into a frenzy as football fans around the nation instantly picked up on this major gaffe and speculated on the striker’s possible misunderstanding regarding which side of Soweto he belonged to.

Prior to this match against Matsatsantsa, Bimenyimana had showed glimpses of what he could offer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane and his squad in two substitute appearances.

He did, however, provide Amakhosi fans with much excitement during his 70 minutes on the field before being carried off with an apparent muscular injury.

After the international break, Bimenyimana is anticipated to continue his excellent form, as he continues to work on his combinations with Zwane’s most key players, including Ashley Du Preez, Keagan Dolly, and Kgaogelo Sekgota.

On October 1st, the Amakhosi will take on AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in the MTN8.
