Hollywood actress Justine Bateman has made headlines with her strong criticism of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, accusing them of turning victimhood into a spectacle.
The Family Ties and Desperate Housewives star didn’t hold back, branding the couple as “ambulance chasers” and “disaster tourists.”
Bateman’s Harsh Words on Meghan’s Netflix Show
According to Bateman, Meghan’s latest Netflix show has failed to resonate with audiences because viewers are not interested in watching someone “playact at something they didn’t earn.”
She believes their entire public persona revolves around what she calls the “Victim Olympics,” a term she has even taken to her RACE TRACK Substack, where she jokingly awarded the couple a gold medal for their efforts.
In Bateman’s view, the world has moved on from their narrative.
“It’s 2025, and no one wants to see victims anymore,” she stated.
While she acknowledges Meghan has every right to explore ventures like cooking shows or podcasts, she insists that the public also has the right to reject what she sees as a carefully crafted narrative.
Meghan and Harry Branded ‘Disaster Tourists’
Bateman’s criticism isn’t new.
Back in January, she called out the couple for what she described as an opportunistic photo op at an evacuation center during the LA wildfires.
She slammed them for showing up alongside politicians, calling their visit a “repulsive” attempt to stay relevant.
“They don’t live here; they are tourists. Disaster tourists,” Bateman wrote.
Fox 11 Los Angeles captured footage of Meghan and Harry mingling with volunteers and Pasadena’s mayor, Victor Gordo, a moment Bateman saw as nothing more than a PR stunt.
The Fallout from Meghan’s Netflix Deal
Bateman’s remarks come at a critical time for Meghan and Harry, as their lucrative $100 million Netflix deal reportedly won’t be renewed.
While the streaming giant has not confirmed this, industry insiders suggest that while their future in long-term contracts looks bleak, there might be occasional projects in case the couple’s relationship takes a dramatic turn.
Journalist Marina Hyde has echoed this sentiment, stating, “A lot of people are hanging around in case there’s a divorce.”
Hyde speculated that if Meghan had followed a different path, she could have secured her Hollywood career post-divorce, comparing her potential trajectory to that of Julia Roberts.
More Netflix Stars Criticize Meghan’s Show
Bateman isn’t the only one taking aim at Meghan’s latest venture.
Comedian Whitney Cummings has accused With Love, Meghan of being a deliberate dig at the Royal Family.
According to Cummings, the focus on making tea, jam, and carefully curated outfits is nothing more than a subtle way of trolling King Charles and Prince Harry’s relatives.
“This isn’t made for us. This is made for like 30 people in that castle,” she said in a video.
Cummings isn’t alone in her critique.
Fellow comedians Christina Pazsitzky and Katherine Ryan have also voiced their skepticism, calling Meghan’s on-screen persona “highly inauthentic” and “phony.”
Ryan, who initially supported Meghan, has since changed her stance, noting inconsistencies in her story and accusing her of crafting a false image of humility.
What’s Next for Meghan and Harry?
As public opinion continues to shift, Meghan and Harry face an uncertain future in entertainment.
While Netflix insiders admit With Love, Meghan hasn’t been a runaway success, there’s still curiosity surrounding their next moves.
The couple’s past projects have been met with mixed reviews, and with more industry figures speaking out, their ability to maintain their relevance remains in question.
The real question now is: Will Meghan and Harry adjust their strategy, or will they continue down the same path despite the growing criticism?
