The NPC spokesperson, Isiaka Yahaya, revealed this development on Tuesday.

The Purpose of the Meeting:

While the agenda and specific day of the meeting were not disclosed, it is believed that the discussion will focus on the updates of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

This census, originally scheduled for May 3-7, was postponed indefinitely.

Postponement of the Census:

Former President Muhammadu Buhari officially approved the postponement of the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

The decision was made after a meeting with members of the Federal Executive Council, as well as the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Nasir Isa-Kwarra, and his team at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on April 28, 2023.

The postponement was deemed necessary to allow the incoming administration to have input and effectively utilize the census results.

According to the NPC spokesperson, Isiaka Yahaya, the postponement was primarily aimed at giving the incoming administration the opportunity to contribute to the planning of the census, ensuring the effective utilization of its results.
