The National Reconciliation Committee of the All-Progressive Congress, APC, has visited Gombe State to secure the unity of the party in the state through the reconciliation of parties who feel aggrieved within the party.
The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, told journalists in Gombe that the team was in the state specifically to reconcile all perceived misunderstandings, grudges and conflicts in the party.
“Since the inauguration of the committee after the congresses around the country, all aggrieved parties have been allowed through public advertisements to air their grievances.
He said that in Gombe State, the committee only received the petition from the former Governor and then Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje.
The committee had decided to give both sides a chance for a fair hearing.
The Chairman said, while the committee heard from the side of government and party, which the petition was targeting, the petitioner wasn’t present to give his version of the story.
He said the Senator gave reasons for not being present during their visit.
In the meantime, the Chairman said the committee would still allow Senator Goje to address the committee.
After considering the positions of both sides, the committee would decide on the appropriate intervention for the party’s unity.
“But we have no doubt whatsoever that APC is strong here.
APC is alive.
Notwithstanding that, we do not want to lose anybody in APC.
So, to avoid war, we have to prepare for war.
So, our mission is to see that those areas of conflict are resolved as much as possible and as quickly as possible,” said Senator Adamu.
For Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, the committee had met various APC stakeholders in the state, reflecting the party’s true leader in the state.
He believes the APC will continue to wax stronger in the state because “we are united one big family, that is focused and delivering on all the demands of our party followers.
Governor Yahaya is happy with the presence of the APC Reconciliation Committee, whose mandate is the resolution of any differences there may be, not just in Gombe but across the country also.
