Imagine arriving at work, coffee in hand, ready to start your day—only to be met with a foul surprise right at the front door.
That’s the unsettling reality for the staff at a suburban health clinic in Perth’s northwest, who’ve been dealing with a bizarre and frankly unhygienic mystery for months.
A woman, who remains unidentified, has been repeatedly relieving herself outside the entrance of the Asbestos Diseases Society of Australia (ADSA) building.
Her actions have been caught on security cameras multiple times, leaving employees both confused and disturbed.
When Concern Turns Into Frustration
It all started back in December, when staff discovered the first incident.
At the time, they thought it might’ve been an unfortunate one-off—a jogger caught in a moment of desperation.
The team even expressed sympathy, assuming the person must have been in distress.
But any goodwill quickly evaporated when it kept happening.
The same woman returned on March 20, crouching down just before 6 a.m., nearly spotted by a passing vehicle.
Then again on April 1. And most recently, another fresh mess appeared outside the clinic just last week.
“We just don’t understand why she keeps coming back,” said ADSA CEO Melita Markey.
“It’s really upsetting for our staff to arrive to that every morning. It’s not just unpleasant—it’s a health risk.”
Toilets Nearby, But She Still Returns
What puzzles the clinic even more is that the building isn’t isolated.
A 24-hour petrol station and accessible public toilets are just a short distance away.
Yet, this jogger appears fixated on the clinic’s doorstep.
Professional cleaners have been hired each time to deal with the aftermath, but the emotional and sanitary toll is becoming too much.
Markey noted, “It’s not just gross—it’s a biohazard. It puts our staff, our clients, and even the woman herself at risk.”
Despite their frustration, the organization still holds out hope that the woman will seek help.
“Honestly, we think this might be her way of reaching out,” Markey added.
“We’d welcome her to come inside and speak with our GP. Maybe there’s something deeper going on.”
Could Mental Health Be a Factor?
Clinical psychologist Dr. Grant Brecht believes there could indeed be more to the story.
He suspects the jogger’s actions might stem from a form of obsessive-compulsive behavior.
“In some cases,” he explained, “individuals feel compelled to act out in specific ways or something terrible might happen to them or someone they care about.”
Dr. Brecht shared a similar opinion back in 2018, during the infamous Queensland “poo jogger” scandal that saw corporate executive Andrew Macintosh publicly exposed for a similar habit.
He suggested the thrill of such acts might become addictive, comparing the sensation to a drug-like high.
“They can feel powerful, even invincible,” he said. “Sometimes, there are elements of delusion involved.”
Taking Action: Public Warnings and Pleas for Help
In an attempt to end the cycle, the ADSA has now posted signs and images of the jogger outside their building, hoping someone in the community can identify her.
The footage has been shared with local authorities, and the clinic has reached out to the public for help.
“We’ve already reported this to the police and the Stirling Council,” the organization shared online.
“If anyone recognizes the woman or has any information, please get in touch. And maybe we need to start leaving out some jogger doggy bags at this rate!”
Not an Isolated Incident: Adelaide Faces Similar Case
Interestingly, Perth isn’t the only city grappling with this strange issue.
Just a few weeks ago, a family in Adelaide’s Kensington Gardens suburb woke up to discover human faeces on their driveway.
After reviewing their security footage, they were stunned to see a woman walking her dog, stopping abruptly, and defecating on their property—without a care in the world.
Rather than staying quiet, the family launched a neighborhood campaign, putting up posters calling out the woman and urging her to come forward.
What Happens Now?
Back in Perth, the community and staff are waiting, watching, and hoping the situation comes to an end soon.
Whether the jogger is dealing with a medical issue, mental health challenge, or something else entirely, one thing is clear—this odd and unsettling routine needs to stop.
Until then, the mystery continues, and the clinic just wants their mornings back—mess-free.
