Moroccan National Kaddi Abdelaziz Stabs Four People in Nahalat Binyamin Area of Tel Aviv After Security Lapse

A recent attack in Tel Aviv has raised serious questions about border security after a Moroccan man, Kaddi Abdelaziz, was able to carry out a stabbing spree in the bustling Nahalat Binyamin area, injuring four individuals.

The attack occurred on January 18, 2025, shortly after Abdelaziz had entered Israel, despite concerns raised by border officials about his intentions.

Security Officer’s Concerns and Evasive Responses

Before arriving in Tel Aviv, Abdelaziz had passed through Ben Gurion Airport, where he was questioned by border control officers.

According to reports, Abdelaziz could not provide a clear reason for his visit, failing to explain whom he was meeting or whether he had any legitimate reason to work in Israel.

His vague and evasive responses were concerning enough for the officers to refer him to the Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security agency, for further questioning.

Security Lapse as Abdelaziz is Allowed Entry

Despite the initial suspicions and Abdelaziz’s inability to provide satisfactory answers, security personnel made the controversial decision to approve his entry into the country.

This decision came despite the fact that border control officers had identified him as a potential threat and sought to prevent his entry.

Interior Minister Moshe Arbel later expressed his concerns about the security lapse, acknowledging that while the officers had done their job by flagging him, the final decision to allow his entry was made by the Shin Bet.

Minister’s Statement on the Incident

“I commend and appreciate the border control officers of the Population and Immigration Authority for recognizing the threat posed by this individual in real time.

Their swift action in referring him to Shin Bet was commendable, though, unfortunately, security officials allowed his entry into Israel,” Arbel stated.

The attack has sparked further debate on the effectiveness of Israel’s border security and whether more stringent measures should be put in place to prevent such incidents
