The UMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party is now in search of a new treasurer-general following the resignation of Dr. Thanti Mthanti, who stepped down less than two months into his role.
Mthanti, who had been serving in this capacity, cited both personal and professional reasons for his decision to resign.
Mthanti’s Resignation Accepted by Jacob Zuma
The MK Party released a statement confirming that party leader Jacob Zuma had accepted Mthanti’s resignation with immediate effect.
In the statement, it was emphasized that Mthanti’s decision came after careful thought and consideration of his personal and professional obligations.
The party also expressed its appreciation for Mthanti’s commitment to the organization, noting his significant contributions since its founding.
“Dr. Mthanti has served the organisation with unrelenting and unwavering dedication,” the statement read.
“He has been an astute leader in various roles, such as the convenor of the national high command deployees to the Western Cape, as well as chair of the communications sub-committee.”
The statement concluded with Zuma, on behalf of the party, offering deep gratitude for Mthanti’s contributions.
Former Springboks Coach Peter de Villiers Joins MK Party
In other news, the MK Party has welcomed former Springboks coach Peter de Villiers as a new member.
De Villiers, who was previously associated with the Good Party led by Minister of Tourism Patricia De Lille, was spotted on social media attending an event at the Western Cape farm of MK Party Deputy President and MP John Hlophe.
Confirming the news, the party’s spokesperson stated that de Villiers has officially joined the Zuma-led party, adding to the list of high-profile individuals aligning with MK Party.
