The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) has revealed that they weren’t informed about any special security arrangements for private investigator Paul O’Sullivan ahead of his appearance before Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee.
O’Sullivan is set to testify on Tuesday regarding alleged corruption in South Africa’s criminal justice system.
While the committee has promised high-level security to protect him, MK Party members say they had no official communication about any extraordinary measures being implemented.
O’Sullivan’s Safety Concerns and Testimony
Originally, O’Sullivan wanted to testify virtually, citing concerns for his personal safety.
However, he has agreed to appear in person, which has drawn attention to the security measures being put in place.
The Ad Hoc Committee plans to question him about serious allegations, including claims that he impersonated an Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) official and that he participated in a task team allegedly plotting against former national police commissioner Kgomotso Phahlane.
