Just when fans were still processing the last pageant shocker, another twist has emerged in South Africa’s beauty queen journey.
This time, it’s official—Miss South Africa will not be part of Miss Supranational 2025.
A Year Full of Surprises and Withdrawals
The Miss South Africa organization has been making more headlines than usual lately, and not just for gowns and crowns.
Last year, in November 2024, reigning queen Mia le Roux stunned pageant followers when she withdrew from Miss Universe, reportedly due to health reasons.
That move alone sparked endless conversations online.
And now, another international stage will go on without South Africa’s presence.
The Official Announcement
In a heartfelt social media post, the Miss SA team broke the news about pulling out of Miss Supranational, which is scheduled for June in Poland.
Their message was short but packed with emotion and appreciation for supporters.
“With heartfelt gratitude to our incredible fans, we share that Miss South Africa will not participate in the Miss Supranational 2025 competition,” the post read.
“We deeply value the memories and connections of this event,” they added, ending with, “We wish the Miss Supranational Organisation a spectacular event.”
While the message was diplomatic and warm, it left fans with more questions than answers.
Fans Left Heartbroken and Confused
Supporters wasted no time sharing their reactions online—many expressing frustration, sadness, and confusion.
-
@Cam: “So no international pageants at all?”
-

-
@Awongwe Sanelisiwe Ndadana: “What a Wow! You guys know how to hurt us, Shem!! So is the Miss Universe license still active?”
-
@Rushon Ganyo | Model – FASHION | COM: “You dropped Miss World, then withdrew from Miss Universe during the competition, now from Miss Supranational. Why do you have to crash the dreams of ladies in pageantry?”
It’s clear that fans have been emotionally invested in seeing South African beauty queens shine on global stages, and this string of withdrawals is starting to feel like a recurring heartbreak.
Is There a Bigger Strategy at Play?
While the official statement didn’t provide a reason for stepping back, many are left wondering if there’s a long-term plan behind these choices.
Is Miss SA focusing on restructuring? Are they reevaluating the purpose of global pageant participation?
Or is it simply a tough season with difficult calls?
Whatever the case, the silence around specific details has only fueled speculation.
What Do You Think?
Do you believe Miss South Africa is making the right moves by stepping away from international pageants—or is this a missed opportunity for representation on the world stage?
