In a surprising turn of events, meteorologist Steve Raleigh won’t face charges following a dramatic video that captured a violent altercation involving his son in a Cincinnati parking lot.
Prosecutors Clear Steve Raleigh
On Monday, prosecutors decided that Steve Raleigh, a well-known weatherman for WCPO TV in Ohio, did not break any laws during the road rage incident on June 22 at the Montgomery Inn Boathouse parking lot.
The decision came after the veteran meteorologist and his sons were involved in a collision with another vehicle, leading to a serious confrontation.
The Incident Unfolds
According to reports, Raleigh was driving his sons, Kyle and Carter, in their Cadillac Escalade when they failed to yield and collided with a Ford F-150.
The driver of the Ford, Douglas Morrow, 79, and his wife, Lois, 76, were left severely injured.
Lois sustained a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain, and a detached retina.
Public Pressure and Investigation Outcome
The Cincinnati Police Department faced intense scrutiny for not making any arrests following the incident.
However, Clermont County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Tekulve announced that Raleigh had been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing.
“There is no evidence that he violated any criminal law,” Tekulve said, closing the investigation for Raleigh.
Further Legal Actions Expected
Prosecutors are still expected to present evidence to the Hamilton County Grand Jury regarding the other individuals involved.
The Cadillac involved in the altercation is registered to Raleigh’s father-in-law, Simon L. Leis Jr., a former Hamilton County sheriff and attorney.
It’s believed that Carter, 28, was driving the vehicle when the collision occurred.
Public Reaction and Involvement
Stacey Morrow, the daughter of the injured couple, expressed frustration online.
She accused the Raleigh family of feeling above the law and claimed that her mother’s injuries were severe.
The video footage from the incident showed Red Sox legend Kevin Youkilis stepping in to assist, which Stacey later praised, calling him her mother’s “guardian angel.”
The Aftermath
Following the incident, Raleigh took a step back from the public eye, deleting his social media and disappearing from the screens.
However, he has expressed gratitude for the clearance and plans to return to work soon.
WCPO confirmed that he will resume his role as chief meteorologist.
Legal and Family Reactions
An attorney for the Morrow family indicated that while they did not suspect Raleigh of committing a crime, they believed he exercised poor judgment.
Stacey Morrow voiced her dissatisfaction with the decision not to charge Raleigh, hoping that his son would face consequences.
What comes next in this ongoing story remains to be seen as further legal proceedings unfold.
