Meghan Markle Pays Tribute to British Veterans on Remembrance Day: Duchess Steps Out in Montecito Sporting Poppy Brooch

Meghan Markle paid tribute to British veterans on Friday by wearing a poppy brooch while out for lunch and shopping with her friend Kelly McKee Zajfen in Montecito.

The poppy brooch is a symbol of support for the Armed Forces.

A Touching Gesture

Meghan wore the brooch on the left breast of her black sweater, which is meant to signify the act of keeping fallen veterans close to your heart.

She paired the shorts with a pair of chic cargo shorts and a simple pair of black ballet flats.

She topped off the ensemble with some glamorous sunglasses and a thin black belt.

A Girls’ Day Out

The outing came just one day before Remembrance Day in the UK and Veterans Day in the US.

Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, was nowhere to be seen as she enjoyed a girls’ lunch with McKee Zajfen.

The two women were seen chatting and laughing with one another.

Shopping Spree

After lunch, the two women made their way to nearby luxury women’s clothing boutique Wendy Foster, where Meghan is known to have shopped in the past.

Wendy Foster sells an array of high-end clothing brands, including AG Jeans and Nili Lotan.

A Connection to the Military

Harry, who spent a decade in the British Army and has two tours of Afghanistan, has a long personal connection with the military.

He and Meghan have spent previous Veterans’ Days on military sites.

Honoring Veterans

Meghan and Harry also recently met with military veterans and their families at Camp Pendleton in San Diego.

They learned about the work of Operation Bigs, a mentoring program that connects military children and families with others who have gone through similar experiences.

A Commitment to Service

Harry and Meghan have also opened up a new gym for Navy SEALs and veterans wounded in combat.

The gym has advanced technology, equipment, and personnel designed to help with physical and mental recovery.

A Symbol of Respect

Meghan’s poppy brooch is a symbol of her respect for British veterans.

It is a touching gesture that shows she has not forgotten them, even though she no longer lives in the UK.
