According to Mjempu, who is coaching Mpumalanga-based ABC Motsepe League outfit Bayern FC these days, the idea of McCarthy coaching the Glamour Boys is exciting but inappropriate.
“As much as everyone would love to see Benni joining a big club and since I am seeing him also being linked with Chiefs, I don’t think him going there would be fair to Arthur Zwane and Dillon Sheppard,” Mjempu said via Soccer Laduma.
“That won’t be fair to the two guys as they did well when the chips were down for Chiefs. They deserve to be given a chance if the club is to make coaching changes because I also thought that they complimented each other when they worked together before (Stuart) Baxter officially took over.
“I wouldn’t recommend that Chiefs go for Benni because there are already two coaches at the club who have showed a lot of promise when they were given a chance to lead the team and with trust in them, I think they can take Chiefs to another level.
“ I would love to see Benni joining Pirates instead, as I said in my previous interview,” Mjempu concluded.
Meanwhile, a few recent reports have claimed that McCarthy is nearing a surprise move to SuperSport United.
According to the reports, the club that is known as Matsatsantsa a Pitori have already begun negotiations towards a final agreement, though it has not been said what will happen to SuperSport’s current coach Kaitano Tembo.
