In a surprising move, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has officially stepped down as a member of Parliament.
Alongside him, Yazini Tetyana, who had served in the Eastern Cape provincial legislature and later in Parliament, also resigned.
The news was confirmed by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), which stated that both individuals voluntarily requested to be released from their duties.
EFF Accepts Ndlozi’s Resignation
The EFF issued a statement announcing that both Ndlozi and Tetyana’s requests were accepted.
The statement expressed gratitude for their contributions to the party and to South Africa.
The resignation requests were sent within days of each other to Marshall Dlamini, the party’s secretary-general.
Leigh-Ann Mathys, the EFF spokesperson, mentioned that the two had served the party diligently in the legislative sphere since the party’s representation began.
Ndlozi’s Absence and Speculations
Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, a prominent figure in the EFF, had been serving as a member of Parliament since 2014.
However, his absence at the party’s National People’s Assembly in December 2024 raised eyebrows.
Reports from November indicated that Ndlozi was banned from attending all EFF political activities, including the War Council and Central Command Team (CCT).
He was placed on a leave of absence, preventing him from performing his duties as an MP.
Rumors Surrounding a Political Shift
There has been much speculation about Ndlozi’s future in politics.
It was reported that he might be joining the MK Party, which was founded by former EFF leaders.
However, the EFF has not officially confirmed any such departure.
Questions remain about whether Ndlozi will align himself with another political entity or take a different direction entirely.
