Maya Jama has become one of the most recognisable faces on British television, with her appearance on Celebrity Traitors adding to a year that has also included presenting Love Island and a recurring role in Netflix series The Gentlemen.

The 32-year-old was selected by Claudia Winkleman as one of the programme’s two original traitors, alongside Oscar-nominated actor Richard E Grant, 69.

Her presence on the show has attracted attention, with Richard Osman and Marina Hyde describing her as the programme’s “big dog” on The Rest Is Entertainment podcast.

Jama has also built a successful profile in fashion and beauty, appearing on the cover of British Vogue and securing major contracts with Dolce & Gabbana and Rimmel London.

Her look has evolved considerably since she hosted the BRIT Awards red carpet at the age of 22 in 2017. Her beauty routine, fashion choices and fitness habits have all contributed to the image she presents today.

The Facial Treatments Behind Her Signature Look

Jama has repeatedly denied undergoing cosmetic surgery, previously telling critics on Instagram that her body and breasts were natural.

“For those that are new here I have never had any surgery… my body and boobs are 100 per cent natural,” she wrote in a statement on her Instagram Stories.

However, the presenter has openly discussed non-surgical beauty treatments, including facials, radiofrequency procedures and lymphatic drainage massages.

She regularly visits facialist Shane Cooper, who also treats celebrities including Laura Whitmore, Jessie J and Rochelle Humes. Cooper has previously said Jama receives his bespoke 90-minute Exclusive Face Treatment, priced at £600, as well as an Aqua Tight facial costing £200.

Jama has also shared details of microneedling treatments, which cost £382.50 with Cooper, and radiofrequency procedures designed to stimulate collagen production.

Other parts of her beauty routine include dental treatment. She reportedly had invisible lingual braces fitted by a dentist in Chelsea at a cost of £6,000.

Before presenting Comic Relief in 2024, Jama posted a video of herself using a Huda Beauty Chin Lift Sculpting Sheet Mask, priced at £8, alongside under-eye masks.

“For those of you wondering how I prepare for my live shows. I look like a Who,” she joked on TikTok.

She has also shared a simple beauty tip in an interview with The Face, saying that placing her face in a bowl of ice helps reduce puffiness.

“My best kept beauty secret is putting my face in a bowl of ice because it de-puffs. Try it, you’ll thank me,” she said.

The presenter has additionally posted pictures of herself receiving microcurrent treatments intended to tone facial muscles.

Surgeon Discusses Possible Changes in Her Appearance

Plastic surgeon Omar Tillo of CREO Clinic told the Daily Mail that comparisons between older photographs of Jama and her more recent appearances showed subtle differences around her cheeks and jawline.

“Her jawline looks a little sharper and more defined now, and her lower face appears slightly slimmer. Her cheekbones also seem more prominent,” he said.

Tillo noted that changes in facial appearance could result from several factors, including weight fluctuations and the natural distribution of facial fat.

He also discussed treatments that can affect facial definition, including masseter Botox, which can reduce the width of the lower face by relaxing the jaw muscles, and buccal fat removal, a surgical procedure that removes fat pads from the lower cheeks.

He stressed that the two procedures produce different effects and said buccal fat removal is permanent, meaning surgeons must consider how facial volume changes with age.

Tillo also suggested cheek filler could make cheekbones appear more prominent and create the impression of a slimmer lower face.

He speculated that Jama may have had lip filler, pointing to what he described as differences in the fullness and definition of her lips in photographs taken at different times.

However, he acknowledged that such conclusions could not be confirmed from photographs alone.

The surgeon also discussed Botox treatments around the forehead and eyes, including procedures that can soften expression lines or subtly lift the eyebrows. He said there were no particularly strong visual indicators that Jama had undergone these treatments.

Jama has not confirmed undergoing the specific procedures suggested by Tillo.

The Make-Up Artist Behind Her Red-Carpet Looks

Jama works with make-up artist Letitia Sophia, whose clients also include Alesha Dixon, Jameela Jamil, Rochelle Humes and Winnie Harlow.

Sophia is not providing her usual services while Jama is filming inside the Celebrity Traitors castle, but she has worked with the presenter on other television and public appearances.

How Jama Uses Fashion to Make a Statement

Jama’s wardrobe has become a significant part of her public image, with stylist Rhea Francois helping develop her distinctive look.

Francois has also worked with Rochelle Humes, Sabrina Dhowre, the wife of Idris Elba, and Kelly Rowland, formerly of Destiny’s Child.

Speaking to Vogue previously, Francois described their working relationship as a good fit, saying Jama was playful and enjoyed experimenting with her appearance.

She said her role was to help the presenter look and feel like her most authentic self while turning her ideas into outfits that suited her personality.

For the opening of the 2023 series of Love Island, Jama requested a Marilyn Monroe-inspired look for her yacht entrance. Francois selected a fitted white dress by emerging designer George Trochopoulos, then 21, combining a glamorous appearance with a sophisticated silhouette.

Her wardrobe on Celebrity Traitors has included several expensive designer pieces. She wore a Saint Laurent trench coat costing £2,570 in the first episode, a belted denim jacket priced at £1,880 in the fourth episode and a Mongolian bolero from AGRO Studio costing £600 in the second episode.

Fashion Expert Praises Her Confidence and Style

Cherish Reardon, fashion expert and founder of Popsy Clothing, told the Daily Mail that confidence was central to Jama’s approach to dressing.

“Maya’s biggest secret is confidence. She looks comfortable in her body and that really comes across in the way she wears clothes,” Reardon said.

She highlighted Jama’s green dress on Celebrity Traitors, describing it as a bold, figure-hugging choice that made an impact without relying on excessive embellishment.

Reardon said Jama’s willingness to embrace her curves was a defining feature of her style, adding that well-chosen clothing could celebrate a person’s shape rather than conceal it.

She also praised a white suit jacket and skirt from Roberto Cavalli’s autumn/winter 2024 collection, with similar jackets costing around £2,000.

Reardon described the outfit as an example of how tailoring could create a strong, elegant silhouette. She also noted that Jama moves between different styles while maintaining a recognisable personal identity.

Cut-Out Dresses and Tailored Suits Feature in Her Wardrobe

Jama’s style frequently includes cut-outs, thigh-high slits, open backs and halterneck designs. According to Reardon, these details allow the presenter to reveal some skin while maintaining a polished appearance.

One example is a black Nensi Dojaka dress with a plunging neckline, cut-out detailing and a thigh-high slit, reportedly costing £1,633.

Reardon said the dress combined a revealing design with a sophisticated finish. She added that Jama often allows one or two distinctive features to stand out rather than overcomplicating an outfit.

Her wardrobe also includes short dresses and floor-length gowns, alongside structured suits that offer a different look from her more revealing outfits.

Reardon said Jama’s choices demonstrate how a fitted dress and a tailored suit can both create an elegant silhouette when worn with confidence.

Although Celebrity Traitors was filmed in Scotland during late spring and early summer, the weather meant contestants were often dressed in warmer clothing. Jama’s Love Island appearances, by contrast, have allowed her to wear more revealing outfits.

Fitness Routine Combines Pilates and Weight Training

Jama’s fitness routine includes personal training, weight exercises and reformer Pilates.

She works with personal trainer Warren Whitely once a week, combining sprint sessions with weight training.

In an interview with Women’s Health, she explained that she preferred lighter weights and a focus on toning rather than lifting heavy loads.

“I go for (a) few reps with light weights to build technique and create subtle definition,” she said. “I like to focus more on toning to complement the results of my Pilates workouts.”

Jama has also credited squats and ankle-weighted kickbacks with helping develop her glutes, while she said push-ups were beneficial for her core.

She regularly attends one-to-one reformer Pilates classes with trainer Marsha Lindsay at Nobu Pilates in London.

During filming for Celebrity Traitors, Jama reportedly exercised daily and booked private sessions at the hotel gym in Inverness.

Jama Has Repeatedly Denied Breast Surgery Rumours

The presenter has also addressed speculation about her figure, specifically denying claims that she underwent breast enhancement surgery.

“My boobs are real,” she wrote on X.

Her comments followed earlier statements in which she said she had never undergone surgery and described her body as entirely natural.

While Jama has openly discussed non-invasive beauty treatments and shared aspects of her fitness routine, she has not confirmed the specific cosmetic procedures suggested by Tillo.
