Ambulance crews and a critical care paramedic were called to the scene before the man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital in a stable condition.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Mick Corlis thanked passers-by who helped the man after the collision.
‘The members of the public who rushed to his aid should be applauded, it’s great to see people looking out for each other in such difficult moments,’ he said.
‘It’s so important to maintain vigilance when near any tram line or road especially at busy times of the day, these incidents are avoidable.’
