Man Arrested Following Disorder at Crooked House Pub Site

Alleged Assault and Criminal Damage Incident

In connection with an incident of disorder at the Crooked House pub site, a 57-year-old man from West Bromwich has been apprehended. This arrest was made on suspicion of assault and criminal damage, stemming from an episode that transpired at approximately 8:30 pm on a Saturday in Himley, near Dudley. Notably, the pub had previously been ravaged by fire.

Conditional Bail Granted

On Wednesday, Staffordshire Police disclosed that the detained individual has been released on conditional bail. Concurrently, a 40-year-old man from Sandwell voluntarily submitted to an interview regarding the incident as ongoing inquiries persist.

Description of the Incident

Earlier police reports outlined that a group of individuals had allegedly assaulted a man and a woman within the vicinity. Additionally, these individuals obstructed the pair as they attempted to depart in a car. Regrettably, during their exit, the vehicle collided with a female pedestrian at the scene, causing non-serious injuries.

Reports to Law Enforcement

The victims of the assault subsequently reported the incident to the police. Furthermore, it has been clarified that the disorder materialized following an unofficial event held at the pub site, featuring the provision of food and beverages. Notably, this event bore no connection to the primary Save The Crooked House (Let’s Get It Re-built) Facebook campaign.

Appeal for Information

Staffordshire Police have renewed their appeal for any individuals possessing information regarding the incident to step forward. Those with relevant knowledge are urged to provide details, citing incident number 888 of September 9.

Related to Arson Investigation

The incident of disorder occurred a mere two days subsequent to the arrest and subsequent release on bail of a third individual, who was implicated in an alleged arson attack resulting in the destruction of the 18th-century pub on August 5. The arrested individual, a 51-year-old from Buckingham, faced suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent or recklessness endangering life. In addition to this, two other individuals, aged 66 and 33, were arrested on August 24 on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
