Police in Gauteng have opened a double murder investigation after 14-year-old twin brothers were found stabbed to death inside their family home in Mamelodi, Tshwane.

The teenagers were discovered on Friday evening when their mother returned home from work and found them unresponsive inside a bedroom.

Twin Brothers Found With Multiple Stab Wounds

Emergency services and police were called to the property following the discovery.

Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said officers who arrived at the scene were directed to a bedroom where the bodies of the two teenagers were found.

According to police, both boys had suffered multiple stab wounds.

The twins were declared dead, turning what should have been their mother’s routine return from work into a devastating family tragedy.

Circumstances Behind Killings Remain Unknown

Investigators have yet to establish what happened inside the home or what may have led to the fatal attack.

Police have not disclosed whether there were signs of forced entry, whether anything was taken from the property or when investigators believe the twins were killed.

Nevhuhulwi said the circumstances surrounding the deaths remained unknown at this stage of the investigation.

No Arrests Made as Police Investigation Continues

No suspect had been arrested in connection with the killings at the time of the police statement.

Authorities have also not publicly identified a possible motive or released information about anyone they may be seeking in connection with the case.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at this stage, and no one has been arrested. Police investigations are under way,” Nevhuhulwi said.

Police Withhold Further Details During Early Investigation

Police said additional information could not yet be released as detectives continue working to establish the sequence of events surrounding the deaths.

The investigation is expected to focus on determining who had access to the property, when the attack occurred and what circumstances preceded the fatal stabbing.

For now, the killing of the 14-year-old twin brothers remains an unresolved double murder, with Gauteng police continuing their investigation into the shocking discovery in Mamelodi.
